ROBERT JOHNSON ON UKULELE Im a regular visitor to a little - TopicsExpress

ROBERT JOHNSON ON UKULELE Im a regular visitor to a little ukulele shop in West End I was saying to the lady there she ought to have a Facebook page as there is no website or anything to let more know where she is. Ive been going in and buying various ukulele books and recently picked up Robert Johnson on ukulele. Its a transcription onto uke of about eighteen Robert Johnson tunes finger picked and it will take me a generation to soak it all in but the riffs are really sweet and it reminded me of the one time I was lucky enough to sat at a front table at the Brook for the performance of David Honeyboy Edwards, a friend of Robert Johnson who visited him when he was dying. There was a accomplished white ragtime guitar player supporting him which was ok but when this ageing wrinkled old man stepped up, sat down and plug in his guitar what he played was straight out of the Delta and raised the neck hairs, you could see that Delta sun setting over the telegraph wires and smell the chicken frying and the shutters coming off the juke joints. It was awesome. I shook Honeyboys hand, the closest I could get to Robert Johnson, it was grizzled and warm and it was like a connection to another time. https://youtube/watch?v=Q7UV0JKEfVQ
