ROC City Classic at Nazereth College, April 12, 2014. This meet was exactly the type of weather I remember as a perfect meet. Sun, a light breeze, periods of clouds, and perfect for both sprinters and distance runners. Wow that 1500m! Good size heats with a little bumping and jostling at the start. See the picture below, RWC was 1, 2, 3, with two laps to go Rachel Hutchinson finished 1st overall in 4:47.00 (ECAC), Megan Hulton 2nd in 4:48.17 (ECAC), and Rachel Hust 3rd in 4:50.67. But that picture does not show that Hannah Taft made her move one lap later to move into 4th place overall in 4:56.76. A nice little top 4 if I do say so. But RWC wasnt done yet, Brittany Ward finished 19th, Kennedy Lewandowski finished 21st, Kellie Lawton finished 31st, Becca Rogers finished 33rd, Rachel Putman finished 39th, Abigail Monroe finished 45th, and April Sablan finished 46th. Way to get that speed work in! Coach Jenn Dorr was one of three coaches to compete at the meet. Coach Dorr ran the 5000m and represented well, finishing in 2nd after trying mightily to catch the winner from UofRochester, with an ECAC qualifying time :-) of 18:22.91 Sharon Howell finished 9th in the 100h in 17.69 and Ashley Andrews finished 10th in 17.72 Brianna Calderon had a break out race in the 400h, winning her heat and cruising to a 3rd place overall finish in 1:10.14. Howell finished 10th in 1:13.28. Racheal Brush finished 7th in the 3000m Steeple Chase running 12:51.03. Kasey Semmler continues to bring her big stick to Pole vault, finishing 2nd after clearing 3.15m. Hope Olsen finished 4th after clearing 2.85m. Coach Kate Clyde finished 4th in Long Jump jumping an ECAC qualifying 5.32m. Katy Perry finished 8th in Shot Put with a best put of 10.09m. Perry also moved up to 4th place in Discus with a 5th round best of 36.28m (ECAC) Victoria Houser finished Discus in 9th place with a 32.46m throw. Perry and Houser finished well in Hammer as well, Perry taking 9th with a throw of 38.26m and Houser 10th with a throw of 37.90m. Casey Beckwith finished in 7th of the Javelin Throw with a best of 26.84m. Hopefully everyone finds a way to train over break, next weekend is East Coast Conference Championships in New Jersey.
