ROCK ME BABY - JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE LIVE AT MONTEREY POP 1967: If I could blink my eyes and go back in time to ANYWHERE, ANYWHERE AT ALL, I would choose front row at Monterey Pop Festival on Sunday, June 18, 1967 precisely at the moment when the Jimi Hendrix Experience took the stage and the country by storm. Jimi was never in better form. Fresh and new, a candle burning white hot at both ends, ready with Mitch and Noel to destroy America, yet only a short three years from his untimely demise. Never before had we witnessed such a dazzling display of electric guitar playing. IMHO nothing ever quite equalled or surpassed that performance, unless you include New Years Eve at The Fillmore, when Jimi played Machine Gun and put Bill Grahams jaw right on the floor.
