ROMAN CATHOLIC CONFESSION FOR PROTESTANTS We confess that whatever new thing the Pope ordains, rather it be in Scriptures or not in Scripture, and whatever he commands is true, divine and salvific; and therefore ought to be held by Lay People in greater esteem than the living God. We confess and assert that the Pope, as our most holy Father is to obeyed in all things without any exception; and that such heretics as contravene his orders are not only to be burnt, but to be delivered, body and soul, to Hell. We confess that the reading of Holy Scripture is the origin of heresy, and schism, and the source of blasphemy. We confess that the Holy Scripture is imperfect, and a dead letter, until it is explained by the Supreme Pontiff, and allowed by him to be read by the laity. geocities.ws/visplace/godsmith20.htm The Paper Pope of the Protestants, the Bible, that serpent which with head erect and eyes flashing threatens us with its venom while it trails along the ground, shall be changed into a rod as soon as we are able to seize it...For three centuries past this cruel asp has left us no repose. You well know with what folds it entwines us and with what fangs it gnaws us. There are Jesuits in all classes of society; in Parliament; among the English clergy, among the Protestant laity, even in the higher stations. I could not comprehend how a Jesuit could be a Protestant priest, or how a Protestant priest could be a Jesuit; but my Confessor silenced my scruples by telling me omnia munda mundis, and that Saint Paul became a Jew that he might save the Jews; it was not wonder therefore that if a Jesuit should feign himself a Protestant, for the conversion of a Protestant. jesus-is-lord/did_the_roman_catholic_church_give_us_the_Bible.htm 1611kingjamesbible/catholic_jesuits.html
