ROUTINE comprises nine-tenths of life. It describes most of the things we do. Without routine, society would cease to exist. It is what we call common work. It is what we do mechanically. Few men survey life from the mount. Most of them are on the plain or in the valley. Few women look at life from the couch of leisure. Most of them must be in the kitchen. There is only one Madame Clara but there are many Mrs. Smiths. What is there to do about it? Lament ones fate and sour on life? Never! Make your valley the loveliest spot in the world. Make the common things uncommonly beautiful. Make the routine a thing of glory. It can be done by obedience.
