RSD/CRPS Fact: What is Allodynia? pain resulting from a stimulus which would not normally provoke pain; extreme sensitivity to heat, cold,and light touch. Even the lightest touch or brush of clothing can cause excruciating pain. Ill attempt to explain one of my RSD feelings to you, the non RSDer. Imagine you are wearing the softest shirt you own. Every movement, even the slightest shift in movement causes pain equal to the pain of pouring salt on an open wound then taking course sandpaper and scrubbing on that open wound endlessly. At times, I just have to deal with it and learn to manage the pain, yes with a smile! At times, I just can not deal and all the managing Ive learned is not enough because my pain is screaming so bad. Bedsheets. clothing. wind. sunlight. Water of a Shower. A hugs, kisses, or holding hands. This is known is Allodynia which is defined as pain due to a stimulus that does not normally cause pain.
