RSPCA NSW have dropped all animal cruelty charges against Wally’s Piggery. In 2012, footage was released by Australian Pig Farming: The Inside Story and Animal Liberation NSW showing unimaginable cruelty at Wally’s Piggery outside Canberra showing pigs being kicked across the floor and beaten with a sledgehammer (Watch: goo.gl/i78V5a). RSPCA NSW withdrew charges on Monday, stating that whomever took the footage would not step forward and lawfully substantiate it. In a confusing twist however, RSPCA NSW also stated that the case did not rely on the activists’ footage. As one of the worst incidents of cruelty ever captured on video in Australia, this case should have been open and shut. RSPCA NSW have set an unfortunate precedent by deciding not to pursue charges when the evidence is so clear. More on this in the coming days, stay tuned.
