RT reports: Mexican navy vice admiral killed in ambush Vice Admiral Carlos Salazar was killed on Sunday in an ambush on a rural road in the Mexican state of Michoacan. The assailants used high-caliber rifles in the attack on the senior officer, who commanded a Pacific coast naval base. Another officer was gunned down with him, the Mexican navy said. The two victims had to divert from a major highway amid ongoing mass protests in the area. The state is a hotspot of the war on drug lords. Hundreds of federal troops have been deployed there since last week, joining forces already stationed there.
