RTI Foundation of India The amendment to RTI Act to exclude the political parties deferred 6 Sep, 2013 The government has referred the RTI (Amendment) Bill (Bill No. 112 of 2013) to a Parliamentary Committee for a wider public consultation. Following the Central Information Commission (CIC) decision which interpreted that the political parties are covered under the ambit of the pubic authority as defined under section 2(h) of the RTI Act, almost all the political parties had taken a public view that they should not be covered under the ambit of the transparency law. The readers may go through the proposed changes in section 2 and insertion of a new section 32.
