RUHONDEEZA UP DATES:President Museveni has blamed his failure to retire on Ugandans who keep re-electing him after every five years when his term expires. He said each time he seeks to go home, Ugandans keep voting him back thus denying him the opportunity to retire. Acting Chief Justice Steven Kavuma has cautioned judicial officers to desist from abuse of money suspects pay for bail. Justice Kavuma said the management of funds at various courts has raised accountability queries which have undermined the integrity of the Judiciary. He, however, cautioned judicial officers against asking for huge sums of money from suspects to grant them bail. The Fort Portal municipality Member of Parliament Alex Ruhunda has attacked leaders who lack the vision and innovativeness to develop their areas. Ruhunda expressed disappointment that some leaders had sabotaged works by a contractor ment to work on the extension of the Electricity power grid in and around Fort Portal. More than 40% of the people living in Kasese municipality have no toilets and defecate in the open, the mayor Godfrey Kabyanga has said. He said people have resorted to using incomplete houses and bushes near their homes to relieve themselves. In Kasese, town people use corridors as latrines while others defecate in polythene bags which they dump along the streets. BUSINESS: Former FDC president Kizza Besigye has said the process of printing money to steal the 2016 elections has already started. Besigye said a bullion van full of money was recently offloaded at the home of President Museveni’s brother Gen Salim Saleh in Garuga. He further said the guards had even stolen some of the cash. The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has recovered sh25b in taxes and fines in crackdown operations to close gaps and meet annual revenue targets. The tax body said this week that most of the money had been lost in smuggling, undervaluation, misdeclarations, concealment and other tax offences. ELSEWHERE: Kenyas President Uhuru Kenyatta said he had been on the right side after the International Criminal Courts chief prosecutor dropped charges of crimes against humanity against him on Friday. Kenyatta vowed to fight on until the two remaining cases at the ICC against Kenyans, including one against his deputy William Ruto, are dropped.
