RUN DO NOT WALK!... The name of the LORD is a strong tower the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. Proverbs 18:10 Running is a posture of abandonment, a complete letting go of reservation. Running declares certainty of faith as to where you are heading. Running is a full throttled confidence that where you are running to, is greater than where or whom you are running from. Anything less than running to the name of the LORD reveals a divided heart. To walk fast instead of run, displays that your heart is not fully surrendered to this divine tower of safety. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 Perhaps you do not view your heart as wicked, but justified. You do not view your lack of speed as inferior, but rather elevated. You do not consider what has slowed you down as an enemy of God or consequence. Like Lots wife, even though a divine host and spiritual leadership have told you not to look back, your lack of disdain for sin is displayed by the pace of your divided heart. Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: Matthew 3:8 Running is the fruit speed of repentance. For the carnal Christian, running is a turning point that declares, I am through living a double life. I am through trotting at a luke warm pace. For the unsaved, it is a heart that turns away from wanting to be ruled by sin and a full tilt running to the cross of Jesus Christ. Running declares to your surrendered blood pumping body, that God is the center of your existence. Nothing is done independently of Him. ARE YOU RUNNING WEIGHT FREE? Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, LET US LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and LET US RUN with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 In order to run into a place of safety, you have to esteem this destination as bigger than yourself. Are you not weight free, because you view your self as bigger than the tower that the repentant run into? Time to downsize our flesh and humble ourselves. Let us draw nigh to God. In addition to our own prayers of self-emptying heart cries of repentance, let us not to think to big of ourselves. Let us also call upon the great cloud of witnesses! Call upon the unencumbered prayers of heaven, to give us more reason to RUN and no longer walk! Selah. -Benjamin This study was authored by Benjamin Charles Lampi. © 2013 MorningGloryTruths
