RURAL/METRO’S PACIFIC NORTHWEST OPERATIONS EARNS A PERFECT SCORE ON NATIONAL ACCREDITATION RENEWAL SALEM, OR and TACOMA, WA (July 8, 2013)- The Pacific Northwest (PNW) Division of Rural/Metro Ambulance announced that the Salem, Oregon and Tacoma, Washington operations have been re-certified by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS), receiving a rating of 100%. Achieving CAAS accreditation signifies that a patient’s medical transportation provider has met the "gold standard," as determined by this prestigious ambulance association, to be not only compliant but outstanding in every way. These standards often exceed those established by state or local regulation. The CAAS standards are designed to increase operational efficiency and clinical quality, while decreasing risk and liability to the organization and patient. “Rural/Metro stands tall among its peers in the competitive ambulance industry with this recognition and I am proud of our collective determination to deliver excellent patient care at every level of the process,” said Mike Andrews, Division General Manager, EMT-P. “Oregon General Manager, Aaron Monnig and Tacoma General Manager, Rod Chandler are to be commended for leading their teams to the highest level of mobile medical service in our community.” While all ambulance systems, including private, public, fire department and hospital-based, are eligible for the three-year accreditation, currently only about 1% of all national ambulance service units are CAAS accredited. The CAAS certification further insures the highest compliance with ambulance standards in providing rapid paramedic response with secure and safe ambulance transport. Rural/Metro Ambulance of Oregon and Washington, excels in the unique public/private partnership that compliments the Fire Departments in each of these great cities. Both operations employ about 250 employees and responds to more than 45,000 calls annually. The PNW as a whole completes 70,000 transports and responds to more than 100, 000 calls for service annually covering the Greater Seattle are in Washington and the Mid-Willamette area in Oregon.
