RV 101® with Mark Polk -Preparing the RV Refrigerator for Winter: Defrost the freezer compartment. Allow sufficient time for any ice build-up in the freezer to melt. Clean and wipe dry the freezer compartment after it defrosts. Thoroughly clean the refrigerator compartment. Make sure it is turned off and leave the refrigerator and freezer compartment doors cracked open to prevent any mildew. Place baking soda, or charcoal briquettes in a container, in the compartments to absorb any odors. NOTE: Do not use a hair dryer or any sharp objects to assist in defrosting the freezer compartment. Heat can cause warping and sharp objects can damage the refrigerator. Time and patience is the best solution!
