RYDERS ON THE STORM No deal done yet, but the AFL have intervened, offering some hope through discussions today. Ryder can have his contract voided, through both club and player, making him a free agent to join Port. If this happens, Essendon will receive a free agent compensation pick from the draft pool, not from Port. Essendon would receive Ports first draft pick (17) plus a compensation draft pick (21). Depending on later draft picks, Essendon would also have to give Port a player (one they dont want). Confused yet?? Essendon are still playing hard ball...there is still the option of the duty of care clause, which no-one wants to use, but if they have to, Essendon could lose him for nothing. And with others wanting to leave Essendon, leaves them in a very vulnerable position. The deadline for this deal through the AFL, is Sunday. Lets hope common sense prevails...and Essendon faces reality. #ryderatport2015 #ntua Admin Steve
