Race Report The Scottish BMW Compact Cup returned to knockhill - TopicsExpress

Race Report The Scottish BMW Compact Cup returned to knockhill for another round with the SMRC. Initially the focus was on the weather with all eyes on the sky, fortunately it held off giving as a dry qualifying and 2 dry races :) Qualifying was great and I managed to put the car 14th for race 1 out of 27 cars. I realised after the session I couldve done better had I managed to get a tow down the back straight where we had to push against a strong head wind. After a very messy and controversial Race 1 the focus quickly changed to driving standards and re start procedure. For myself I was able to make a good start, not my best it was ok managing to recover the 2 places I lost off the line within the 1st couple of laps only to lose it all again when ingot tangled up with David Mcnaughton leaving me dead last, I dived for a gap only to realise it was quickly closing cause the incident. Thankfully David was reasonably cool about it and still managed to recover into 10th place but I still feel terrible about it as David has given me a lot of good advice throughout the season so far. Anyways back to the race after Stephen Russell had a huge impact with the barrier on the back straight the race was red flagged and to be re started from the grid however this descended into chaos causing the car in front to get out of shape and my avoiding action sent me straight into the back of David Noble :( fortunately the car was still running and not overheating so I kept going :) managing to fight my way back upto 15th :D Race 2 was back to business as usual after the ProRace Scotland lads, with an amazing effort managed to piece my car back together. I managed to get my starts back together and got a great start gaining a few places, the race was going pretty standard from there as I tried to close th gap to the car in front only to be surprised by the appearance of my team mate James Stevens on my bumper after a few laps battling with him as we traded places I finally managed to gap him only for him to be replaced with Mark Souter, who pushed me hard until the end of the race where I eventually finished 13th :) Now the cold harsh reality of Monday has arrived and we have a lot of work over the next couple of days to get the 7ty 5ive back to herself for Silverstone next weekend, time to get busy :D Also like to take the time to congratulate David Squirrell on his MAX 5 performance at Oulton Park showing that hes got what it takes to dig deep and get the job done :) #TeamBlackWatch #MissionMotorsport
