#Racerparents!!! I just got some useful insight about how Red Bull chooses which racers to invite to the selection event. They really do look at all the information in the application… and they check the results. Ready for some HUGE insight? One of the biggest knocks against racers: small grid sizes. Winning a race of two participants is much less important than fighting for mid-pack in a big grid. Secondly, not racing enough. So, the path you choose depends on your long term goals in the sport: If moto racing is something that is fun for now and you expect it to peter out… then seek out small grids and fill junior’s shelves with trophies. That’s great - he/she will have wonderful memories. On the other hand, if you have aspirations larger than that… if you want to build a fast kid with opportunities to go farther… seek competition. Talk to other parents, find out what they are doing and do the same. Root for ALL the kids. Nothing will make a racer push their limits more than getting passed – especially by someone you usually beat. We don’t have 200 kids in California racing so grid size needs to be built by consensus and communicating with each other. To sum up: 1. it is NOT about what bike they ride 2. it is NOT about wins or championships 3. it IS about racing a lot 4. it IS about racing hard in big grids
