Rachmaninoff wrote Vocalise for the human voice, but it has been played by just about every instrument (including Clara Rockmore, famously, on the theramin). I heard a captivating version this afternoon on NPR for cello that reminded me that my nephew John Christian son Michael plays cello and Michaels grandmother plays piano. This is not the version I heard on the radio, but it is every bit as beautiful. So Michael (when your Dad brings this to your attention) this is for you. Its been many years since I had string lessons but the tempo and ornamentation doesnt seem technically too challenging, and the piano accompaniment also sounds reasonably friendly. If you decide to host a recital some afternoon, give us a heads-up in time so we can make the trip. Just a thought...hope you give it a spin. youtu.be/PGIZfsKvKgU
