Racist attacks against migrants, refugees and asylum seekers but - TopicsExpress

Racist attacks against migrants, refugees and asylum seekers but also against Turkish Cypriots have become part of our everyday reality. The racist and fascist discourse of organisations such as ELAM is presently “legitimised” through the media. All over the European Union, including Cyprus, and beyond, the fascist threat is once again raising its ugly head. The fascists and racists are preparing to extract significant gains in the coming European parliamentary elections (Marine Le Pen’s Front National in France aspires to reach 25% of the popular vote, the Golden Dawn in Greece is out for an even larger share of the vote, while Nick Griffin is seeking re-election and an increased vote for the British National Party). Throughout Europe, a week of action is being organised culminating on Saturday, 22 March 2014. Mass demonstrations and marches are planned to take place in the capital cities of the European Union and other countries. 21st March, the UN World Day Against Racism, commemorates the killing of 69 peaceful demonstrators against apartheid in Sharpeville, South Africa, in 1960. MARCH AGAINST RACISM AND FASCISM IN EUROPE – AND CYPRUS! SATURDAY , 22 MARCH 2014, 11:00 am. Assembly at “Ohi” Roundabout and march to the end of Ledra Street NO TO RACISM! ●NO TO FASCISM! ●YES TO DIVERSITY! PUT NICOSIA ON THE MAP OF EUROPEAN ANTI-RACISM AND ANTI-FASCISM!
