NO INDICTMENT FROM GRAND JURY IN ERIC GARNER CASE On July 17, 2014 Staten Island resident Eric Garner was strangled to death by NYPD officers. He pleaded with officers who shoved him to the ground and used a chokehold across his neck. His death was captured on camera by onlookers who begged police to stop. The whole world watched as he spoke his last words: I can’t breathe. [On Wednesday, December 3, 2014] the Grand Jury in his case refused to indict the officer who killed him. We must all take to the streets and stand in solidarity with New Yorkers who will gather in Eric’s memory.
