Radiation day 8: Molly did pretty well today. We had to adjust her - TopicsExpress

Radiation day 8: Molly did pretty well today. We had to adjust her mask since its getting tighter. They cut out part of the neck. We are trying to figure out how to control the swelling. We will see her Oncologist in a few days and discuss what to do next. Tonight, Molly is having her first sleepover with her sisters with grandma and grandpa. They were all excited as they got into the van. It is a nice break for Peter and I, as we havent gotten much quiet time together. Plus,I got my laundry put away. Clean undies for everyone! The quiet time came after an emotional morning for me. I ended up in the bathroom before radiation just having a good cry. Sleep deprivation is a help with tears, but honestly, it was just time. The stress is immense. I keep thinking finding out your daughter has terminal cancer is enough to keep your emotions busy, but then you throw in dealing with the kids own emotions, steroids, daily hospital visits, and the duties of the day...well, its down right overwhelming. Its helpful to have family here, but I sense they feel helpless at times because honestly, there is not much they can do. We still need to be parents, we still have medical decisions to make, we still have a marriage to nurture. They cant do any of these things for us. But we are thankful that they are here so that if we need to go cry in the bathroom, the kids are still taken care of. This battle is fierce. We are exhausted. But I find myself still able to thank God for endless things. Just today, I thought how wonderful that He had her diagnosed BEFORE we went to Germany. And how good He is that hes given us so many people to pray for us. We are still so blessed. #prayformolly
