Radio Interview on Super Talk News in La Grande, Oregon! (Follow link below to hear it.) Rascal Rodeo Supports Special Athletes At Eastern Oregon Livestock Show Posted by Katrina Lim Rascal Rodeo, founded in 2001, is a non-profit organization that produces rodeos for anyone with mental or physical disabilities. The Rodeo has had participants of various ages and abilities ranging from a 2-year-old with autism to a 65-year-old with schizophrenia. With the help of real life cowboys and cowgirls, special athletes have the opportunity to experience a sense of accomplishment and the western way of life. Rascal Rodeo’s mission is to prove that just because someone is considered different or looks incapable of doing something doesn’t mean he or she can’t do it. What started as a high school Senior Project for CEO and founder Ann-Erica Whitemarsh has now become the successful organization it is today. Whitemarsh shares more of her story on why she started Rascal Rodeo. The next Exceptional Rodeo will be in Union on Sunday, June 9th at 10AM during the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show. Exceptional Rodeos are always free for participants and volunteers, and they are actually still in need of more volunteers. Participants will be partnered up with different volunteers, which the Rodeo is still looking for right now. Volunteers don’t need to have any rodeo experience at all. “You pretty much have to heart,” Whitemarsh explains. The last rodeo was in March in Pasco, and eight more rodeos are scheduled to happen throughout Oregon and Washington. They even received a phone call from a gentleman in California who would like them to visit in October. The organization is always looking for help; CEO Whitemarsh gives suggestions how to get involved. supertalknews/06-03-2013/rascal-rodeo-supports-special-athletes-at-eastern-oregon-livestock-show/
