Radio Sai Special Video: New Year Message from the Vice Chancellor, SSSIHL https://youtube/watch?v=8GSetN234CQ Prof. K B R Varma assumed charge as the tenth Vice-Chancellor of SSSIHL on 23 November 2014. He succeeded Prof. J Shashidhara Prasad. Prof. Varma was Professor and Chairman, The Materials Research Centre (MRC) at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore until his appointment at SSSIHL. He received his Ph.D. degree in Physics from Madras University, Chennai, India in 1981. He was a postdoctoral researcher with the Dept. of Pure and Applied Chemistry, Strathclyde University, Glasgow, United Kingdom. He then joined the Indian Institute of Science. His research interests include dielectrics, ferroelectrics, non-linear optics and electro optics with a focus on functional ceramics, glass nanocrystal composites, single crystals. He has participated in several national and international conferences; authored or co-authored over 275 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and supervised 26 Ph.D. candidates.
