Radio Station Draged to Court for Issuing Shs500000 Bounced Cheque A famous radio station is Tororo town has been dragged to court for issuing a bounced Cheque, Uganda Picks has learnt. The case was filed by a one Wanagoli Ambrose Weere, a former staff at 90.2 Veros Radio Tororo. According to summons that Uganda Picks saw, a criminal case against the radio was issued after a bounced Cheque of shs500,000 was given to the plaintiff. The file number of the case is SD/61/11/07/2013. The Cheque number 000106 was issued on 30th/June/2013 and signed by the radio’s director, Mr Okecho Geoffrey through Standard Chartered Bank Uganda limited; Mbale branch. According to police records, the bounced cheque was deposited on Wanagoli’s account number 0102006478400 at Uganda Finance Trust Bank, Tororo branch. The 500,000 shillings on the Cheque was part of the one million salary arrears Wanagoli is demanding the radio station for the services he offered as a news reporter before he walked out last year. The station early this year, as part of out of court settlement, agreed to pay the former staff this amount after he dragged the institution to the Justice center Tororo branch for nonpayment of his arrears. However, the station’s director says they can’t pay Wanagoli his arrears until he returns some of the station’s equipments including microphones and recorders he reportedly went with. In response, the journalist dismissed this as utter rubbish and has vowed to fight for his money.
