Rafael Alunan III 58 mins · ShareThis · Edited · Has anyone ever been in the front lines fighting the insurgency w/c is the product of negligence, bad governance, oligarchy and social injustice? The hatred and toxicity from that results in fierce armed struggles that our uniformed services are forced to address to preserve the peace and protect the public. When youre a target for ambush or assassination, on and off the field, by a determined armed enemy, your survival instincts take over tempered by training to contain collateral damage. There are times when pre-emptive action will need to be undertaken to prevent serious damage to lives, property and the established order. Counter-insurgency is serious stuff and dirty in the trenches. Critics should step back and imagine themselves out there for 36 years like Gen Palparan and juxtapose him with Operation Ahos when the NPA killed thousands of their kind and innocent civilians suspected to be working for the government. If we had social justice, inclusivity and good government all-around, we wont have an insurgency that has cost many Filipino lives. That is not the fault of our soldiers; that is a failure of society in general, and its power elite in particular.
