Rafael Nadal Pulls Out of Buenos Aires Tournament Rafael Nadal has pulled himself out of next week’s ATP Buenos Aires tournament due to lingering back injury issues. He made this announcement on his official YouTube page and apologized to both his fans and organizers of the tournament. “I want to make an announcement that really fills me with sadness — I will not be able to play in the tournament in Buenos Aires,” Nadal said in his video message posted on his YouTube page. World No. 1 Rafael Nadal has been battling injury issues since last month Australian Open final, where he lost to eight seeded Swiss player Stanislas Wawrinka. Because of this injury, he also missed the opportunity to become the first player in open era to win all four major titles at least twice. He could match Pete Sampras’ record of 14 grand slam titles as well but he failed to do so. The Buenos Aires tournament is scheduled to start on February 10, 2014. Nadal’s participation had been in doubt already because of the back injury and on top of that, he is now suffering from a stomach virus that has slowed down his recovery even more. All these circumstances forced him to withdraw from the tournament. “Since I came back from the Australian Open with my back injury I have not been able to train,” Nadal said in his Thursday’s video. “I had hoped to train this morning but could not because of a stomach virus.” “We are four days away from the tournament and without training and given what happened in Australia, it is impossible for me to prepare adequately for a competition as important as the one in Buenos Aires.” “I am sorry to all my supporters and organizers and am sad personally to be unable to return to Argentina, but i hope to come back stronger soon.” The post Tennis news latest appeared first on Big Ball Tennis.
