Railroad retirement and Social Security went into effect the same year....You pay in the same amount to both...The railroad stopped the Goverment from taking money out of thier account..Fewer people paying in....but they get $2000. a month..or more and your spouse gets half of what you get... Social Security was deverted twice to the general fund...More poeple paying in... you get less out...I wonder why??? If the money was paid back with interest how would we be doing????
