Raimund Snyders appointed as Chief Executive of Mutual & Federal Mutual & Federal, a member of the Old Mutual Group, announces that it has appointed Raimund Snyders as Chief Executive, following Peter Todd’s decision to resign in order to pursue other business interests. Mike Harpur, Chairman of Mutual & Federal, in an interview with COVER, said that they were sorry to see Peter Todd leave. “He has established a fabulous rapport with the brokers and has brought about significant strategic changes on which we will be able to build going forward.” Harpur said that they had decided not to go back to the market in seeking to replace Todd. The appointment of Raimund Snyders would ensure continuity, especially with regards to Mutual & Federal’s vision for growth in Africa. Mr Snyders, who is currently the Chief Operating Officer & Head of Distribution for Old Mutual’s African operations, joined Old Mutual in 1990 and has operated in a variety of roles within Old Mutual South Africa (“OMSA”), including being CEO of the Life company in Namibia before heading the Personal Financial Advice distribution business. He is a qualified advocate by profession and brings a wealth of knowledge of the industry and the Old Mutual Group to the role. Mike Harper said: “With the expanding cooperation between OMSA and Mutual & Federal in the creation of iWYZE and stated strategy to expand further into Africa, Raimund’s background is ideal to lead the Mutual & Federal business into its next phase of growth.” Harpur told COVER that Snyders understands the role of advisors, as he had formerly been engaged in the independent investment market, and has been effective with Old Mutual in dealing with PFAs. “The South African broker market is incredibly important to Mutual & Federal, as it underpins the company’s strategy.” He said that Snyders would continue to keep the company very close to the broker market. “During his tenure as CEO, Peter strengthened the Executive team, simplified the organisational structure and built a customer-centric culture, supported by vastly improved information technology and a closer alignment with Old Mutual on the iWyze and Africa initiatives. We wish Peter all the best in his future endeavors and thank him for his leadership of Mutual &Federal during his tenure as CEO,” said Harpur. Peter has agreed to remain at Mutual & Federal for a few months to ensure a smooth handover. Harpur said that the company would continue to focus on growing its strong divisional businesses: corporate, commercial and personal lines. New appointments to the executive team will be made shortly to ensure this growth takes place
