Rain falls, snow melts, and ice builds up. That water wants to get into the ground, but too often is blocked and diverted by roofs, driveways, shallow-rooted lawns, and other impervious surfaces, forcing it to run off and often cause erosion problems along roadsides and backyards. Storm runoff is causing serious problems in many neighborhoods, including Meadow Drive in Pedden Acres right here in Springfield. Starting in January, Ill be working with any qualified homeowner in Pedden Acres who is interested in learning how they can help to manage stormwater on their property: slow it down, spread it out, soak it in!
