Rain fell gently, as homeward I sped Kids and firefighters, yellow & red Four shows, a full day, I did engage Safety and prevention, on the same page Grown men, acting like kids, tell a joke Play dodge ball and warn about smoke The guys grabbed a kid to stuff in a sack The kids laughed out loud and grabbed him back Men, burly and strong wearing shirts of pink Playing with kids, change how they think No reason to fear these gentle giants at all Friends, neighbors, family men, short & tall These men, that risk, that hurt, that train To fight fire, save lives, to try and explain How does one gather the nerve, have the guts To run into danger, to save others butts A rare breed, skinny, heavy, short and tall When youre in danger, they risk it all Im proud to share space with this crew To teach and learn, to do what I do Bless the heart of every woman and man That raises an axe, hose or extends a hand The world is a better place because of you May your watch be safe and runs be few
