Rain is moving into the state this morning ahead of a slow moving - TopicsExpress

Rain is moving into the state this morning ahead of a slow moving cold front and will continue to spread across the state today and tonight. Some of the HI-RES models suggest the steady rain will move into the LR Metro around noon - 2 pm +/- but a shower or two is possible before the main rain moves in. Temps this morning are in the 50s and 60s and wont warm too much except in the eastern and SE sections of the state where skies will be cloudy for most of the day but dry until late afternoon. Rain will pretty much cover the state tonight and due to the slow movement of the frontal system, some heavy amounts may be seen. Overall amounts of 1-2 with some 3 amounts are possible today into Wednesday especially over western and central AR. The rain will slowly shift east on Wednesday but it may be until Thursday morning before all the rain moves out of the eastern and SE sections of the state. Temps tomorrow will be in the 50s and 60s. Dry weather will move in behind the front and temps will be cool through the weekend and into next week. Highs will be in the 50s and 60s across the state with lows in the 30s, and 40s. I think the deer hunters will like that. A weak frontal system will move into the state on Saturday but only switch the wind direction to NW as moisture will be lacking. There may be enough moisture to produce some cloudiness and maybe a shower or two in the NE sections of the state. Looking at the long range, while the Climate Prediction Center had been posting above normal temps and rainfall, the pattern looks to change over the eastern and central sections of the country to a below normal temperature and rainfall pattern as a big trough develops over the east and keeps AR in a NW flow aloft. Well see how this develops but this pattern could allow some pretty chilly air to move down next week. Stay tuned.
