Rainy and foggy! Pretty much all day today we rode through the soup of the Pacific northwest. We werent in a rush to get going this morning for a number of reasons. First it is my birthday today as I turn the big 65 and am now on MEDICARE. Fortunately, I still feel good. Second, it was raining when we woke up so we really werent motivated to get on the road. Third, we both knew our destination of Port Angeles, WA was only about 170 miles away so it was not going to be a chore to cover that distance. Our standard thoughts on riding in the rain is that we havent melted yet. We did ride through Forks, WA, which is the setting for the Twilight movie series about the vampires and werewolves. This area of the country is really beautiful but is much prettier when it is not raining. The issue there is that rain is a staple up here. We found a motorcycle shop here in town and I will get my rear tire replaced in the morning. They said they think they can get it done by noon and we hope so as our ferry to Vancouver Island departs at 12:45 but the next one isnt until around 5:30. Hopefully we can catch the earlier boat and be on our way to the island.
