Rajarshi Nandy says: The issue regarding ISIS remains that however much one tries to defend Islam at large by disassociating it from ISIS, the latters version and interpretation of the religion does find a lot of support from many,and not insignificant, section of muslims world-wide. The reports that many Arabs willfully joined ISIS and are helping them to carry on their systematic genocide of Yazidis only point to this established fact. Historically radical Islam has always been a politically powerful entity using indiscriminate force, intimidation and fear as tools of expansion, both territorial and religious. But unlike in past ages, there was no global media or internet to report or condemn such atrocities. Few things have caused more damage to Islam than the internet, for you cannot manipulate the internet to not show beheadings! It is time that those muslims who are moderate, and peaceful come together to expunge all such scriptural sources from their holy texts, and there are quite a few of them, which can be used as the philosophical breeding ground for Islamic terrorism. That is the only way out, but unfortunately, if we are to go with historical evidence such a turn of events is impossible. The harder they try to emulate 14th century Arabia, the faster will be their inevitable fall in this century.
