Rajeev RC deserves Kudos for his dynamic and Inspirational Drive for a Solidiers Right for exercising his Franchise. I could never vote during my entire BSF career having been posted on the borders or on IS/Election duties. In one General Election decades back in Meghalaya My CO detailed me to organise and superwise the coming Elections. I could pre-arrange the entire Exercise meticulously by earmarking a drill from far off Outposts by the established practice of DRs (Despatch Riders). When in Bn Hqrs the endless wait for ballot Papaers from Kolkatta (then Calcutta) Frontier HQs for days together the packet was received a week after the last date of the VOTING. The entire Battalion personnel and families were denied the opportunity. Alas we are given to understand the situation has not improved due to Bureaucratic hurdles and lack of Political Will despite dedicated campaigns by stalwarts like Niranjan Malik Prakash Katoch and other retd Sr Defence/BSF officers.
