Raleigh Update: Justin Burr introduced legislation that would reduce the age requirement for people to hold public office in North Carolina from 21-years of age to 18-years of age. The stated purpose of the legislation is to encourage the participation of young North Carolinians in local and state government. If ultimately passed, you will still have to be 25 to be a State Senator, but only 18 to be in the NC House. The irony, is that last year, Burr helped spearhead the 49-page Voter ID Law that disenfranchised many North Carolinians from voting, especially college students. ncleg.net/Applications/BillLookUp/LoadBillDocument.aspx?SessionCode=2013&DocNum=8321&SeqNum=0
