Ramadan fasting in the bible Jeremiah 36:9- and it came pass in the fifth year of je-hoi-a-kim the son of jo-si-ah, king of judah, in the ninth month that they proclaimed a fast before the LORD to all the people in jerusalem, and to all the people that come from the cities of judah unto jerusalem. COMMENT The ninth month of fasting that is mentioned in jeremiah 36:9 means the month of ramadan which is also the ninth month of the islamic calendar when all the Muslims observed their fasting. Is this not marvelous that the Ramadan fasting of the Muslims is mentioned in the Bible? In matthew 4:1-2 and Luke 4:1-2 Jesus fast for forty days. In matthew 17:21 he encouraged others to fast and pray. And in matthew 6:16-18, he taught his disciples how to fast and the spiritual significance of fasting. FINALLY In surah 2:183, Allah says; o you who believe! Fasting ir prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become pious.
