Ramayana-78 (Chitrakoota): after spending the night in Bharadwaajas ashrama ,they got up in the morning and paid their respect to the Maharishi.Then they set out for Chitrakoota as directed by the Maharishi...The Muni blessed them!... They reached to a river and made a raft using drift wood and creepers as rope to cross the river . Raama instructed Lakshmana to collect fruits and flowers Sita liked and indicated on the way..making her happy all the way in the tough conditions and enjoying the odd situations in the forest. Raama pointed out the beauty of forest to Sita,flowers,singing of birds,flower beds in some places,valleys etc. they started enjoying the views around... Then they saw the at a distance the Chitrakoota hill.They were glad and began walking briskly towards it. .How beautiful the region is! exclaimed Raama. The forest here has fine edible roots and fruits.The water is clear and sweet.Rishis dwell in ashramaas in this forest and we may most certainly live happily here in their holy company.They proceeded to put up an ashramaa there. lakshmana was a clever workman and constructed a strong hut quickly with windows and doors using bamboos. Here ,beside the lovely Chitrakoota hill ,on the bank of river Maalyavati,in that cottage the three young people lived,free from care,performing their daily devotional routine.They forgot that they were in exile and spent the time happily.
