Ramblings of a Free Thinker: For the record, and for now, into infinity and beyond, ANYTHING I post of Facebook is available for ANY persons reaction, objection, agreement, or any other comment that person wants to make. I do, however, reserve the right to delete comments that I find offensive, and likewise recognize this same right of those upon whose posts I may comment. * * * * * * * * * * On more than one occasion, and by more than one person, I have been chastised for making honest expressions of my opinions on articles, videos, and/or images these individuals post to their walls, timelines, or whatever theyre called. What I dont understand is, WHY? Where have I misunderstood the purpose of social media? Is it not for open and free discussion? Maybe people should post some kind of disclaimer stating that: This post is for MY OWN personal gratification only. I do not care about or want to know your opinion, reaction, or response. Kindly keep your comments to yourself. This is MY POST, on MY WALL. You cant play in my yard! But wait. Is not the purpose of social media to express AND discuss ideas and opinions? Is it not true that when one posts ANYTHING on Facebook or other social media, it immediately becomes public domain? Are things we post not understood to be open to WHATEVER reaction, comment, or criticism that ANY person who views them might have. Am I missing something? Suggestion: If one does not wish to have others comment on ones post, one should post it where nobody will see it. (AND as indicated above, remember that one has the right AND ability to remove/delete any comment made by another on anything that one has personally posted.) But seriously folks, if youre not open to others opinions or if youre not going to stand behind (defend) things you post, just dont post them. Itll make everyones life a little easier.
