(Frick, personal communication). Academic work: a piece of intellectual work of very limited interest, and that is more likely to advance its author’s career than human knowledge. When a significant number of scholars engage in work of this kind, one has an academic industry. (Bunge 1999: p.8). Academic industry: sustained intellectual effort to produce irrelevant publications. Discourse on pseudoproblems or miniproblems, often originating in elementary misunderstandings, that only serves the purpose of getting academic promotion. (Bunge 1999: p.137).
