Rampant traffic accidents on Kenyan Roads is worrying, so many - TopicsExpress

Rampant traffic accidents on Kenyan Roads is worrying, so many lives are lost as a result and little is being done. The cabinet secretary has been reactionary instead of being proactive. Kenyan roads are very narrow and cannot match the volumes of traffic on our roads. Imagine more emphasis on speed governors and uniforms for drivers and conductors and heavy penalties on drivers and Saccos that own the PSVs. I dont agree authorities should immediately embark on massive public education on road safety, revamp railway transport for the movement of bulky goods and minimize the number of trailers on our roads, expand pipeline to transport fuel to many towns and re-introduce PSV buses owned by the government like the Nyayo buses of 80s to bring effective competition to cushion Kenyans from rogue transport companies and come up with measures to improve standard of living lowering the cost of living to reduce the mad rush by PSVs to make more money for their livelihood survival. The government must also screen auto-spares imported into the country Taiwan, China just because East is cheap compromises quality of the spares putting many lives at risk. Finally the government must in the long term start on expanding our roads to have two lanes just in case a vehicle breakdown the driver can outmaneuver and avoid accident. Know that chest thumping by CS Kamau will not reduce accidents. God Bless Kenya.
