Ran into one of the coolest people I ever met! Mike Wilson. Mike and his wife Margaret ran Wilsons Harley Davidson from the late 40s to the early 70s. He had some great stories about Harley drag and Bonneville salt record holder Leo Payne. I worked with Leo at Cedar Rapids Honda. Mike and his wife Margaret were 2 of the nicest customers when I worked at Metro Harley Davidon. Unfortunately Mikes lovely bride Margaret passed away a month ago. Margaret was an accomplished rider. As is Mike. She was a member of ths Motor Maids. Both are lifetime members of the American Motorcyclists Association. They donated a bronze statue at the AMA musuem. Mike told me he has 5 bikes in Anamosa at the National Motorcycle Museum. One is Leos drag bike. Margaret is being honored this October by the AMA in Daytona at Biketoberfest. The AMA is flying Mike down. How cool is that! Mike said she was the smartest women he ever met.
