Rand Paul is proving why he is a typical Libertarian, and why he will never get my vote. Agreeing to disagree does NOT have to include acceptance through legalization of immorality and poor choices. The apathy that Libertarians have toward social issues is the largest point of contention I continue to have with those well-intentioned, freedom-loving people. The issue is this: If a people are not morally sound and civilized in their daily living, how can good come from allowing them to manage themselves? Within a Republic, there are still basic standards that all must adhere to as a minimum baseline, and are agreed upon via representation. Within a socialist or communist structure, those basic standards are given to the people by an authoritarian government. Humanity left to its own devices ALWAYS resorts to tribalism and micro-struggles for power as the strong attempt to coerce or dominate the weak. There is no such thing as pure liberty - not unless there is only one human left on the planet.
