Rand specifically has stated that he plans to keep foreign U.S. military bases open, which is a major departure from the more genuinely non-interventionist position of his father. Reaching out to evangelicals, Rand has stated that he wishes to continue punishing people for using marijuana. Reaching out to warhawks, Rand gave a speech at the Heritage Institute and asserted his intentions for continuing economic warfare against Iran because of a nuclear program that even Rands father acknowledges is no threat to the United States. This, we are told, is a viable libertarian candidate for 2016. By who? For one, the aforementioned organization known as FreedomWorks, which is closely linked to both Rand Paul and the Republican Party. FreedomWorks has a reputation for engaging in internet astroturfing campaigns, which are designed to create the appearance of popular support for a movement where there is in actuality very little. The organization is also home to Julie Borowski, who has taken on the Orwellian title of Token Libertarian Girl despite being on the payroll of an organization that is backed by the Republican Party.
