Randall, Equal pay for women is not a real issue—it’s - TopicsExpress

Randall, Equal pay for women is not a real issue—it’s merely Democrats blowing “a few kisses” to their voter base. That’s what Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said right before Paycheck Fairness failed on the Senate floor with zero Republican votes. McConnell’s condescending remark shows what Republicans really think about women’s livelihoods: Either they refuse to acknowledge that unequal pay for women is a problem, or they just don’t care. The first vote failed, but Senate Democrats are expected to bring the bill to the floor for a second vote any day now. Tell Senate Republican obstructionists to stop blocking Paycheck Fairness for women. A recent study by Pew Research found that mothers are either the sole or primary source income for the family in 40 percent of U.S. households. Yet studies show that women are paid less than men, on average, for performing the same job. The Paycheck Fairness Act would help ensure equal pay for equal work by making wage differences between men and women more transparent and by prohibiting retaliation against workers who inquire about their employers’ wage practices. Say you’re with us and with working women everywhere. Join the fight for Equal Pay for Equal Work today.
