Random Pick of the Day: Terry Gilliams critically beloved yet - TopicsExpress

Random Pick of the Day: Terry Gilliams critically beloved yet commercially overlooked The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Based on the real life Baron, known for his tall tales. The real 18th century German nobleman would tell epic and extraordinary battles, highly exaggerated and would even go so far as to tell friends and associates that he had once built a starship and sailed to the moon. His name is even used in modern psychology in the term Munchausen Sydrome; a condition where and individual will feign illness or injury, or in some cases even induce their own illness for an obsessive want of attention. Theres also Munchausen by Proxy, like in the Sixth Sense, when the mother is secretly putting something in the childs soup to keep her ill. Gilliam takes this interesting historical figure and puts his early Gilliam Spin on it, kinda feeling like a sister film to Time Bandits in style. Starring fellow Python Eric Idle. Look for a fantastic Robin Williams cameo as...the Moon? An even smaller cameo by Sting.. . AND its a young Uma Thurmans third film ever. Super fun madness. https://youtube/watch?v=O0p9W47frhI
