Random Thought From ‘The Paw Man’ Am I getting old? Well that was the thought that went through my head today when something rather embarrassing happened. A bit of background first….. Yesterday morning I was scheduled to address 100 or so workers for a utility company to teach them how to minimise the number of dog bites they are getting. Out of the 100 men present more than 40 of them had experienced aggressive confrontations with dogs in domestic back yards. The location for the information session was 1 hour and 10 minutes’ drive North of Brisbane and they wanted me there at 8:30am so I had to drive right through peak hour traffic so I needed to get an early start to avoid being late. Added to this some pretty heavy thunder storms were forecast and I didn’t want to get caught in them either. I hopped in the car and programmed the address into the GPS and went to wind up the car windows that I had left down a couple of centimetres so the car wasn’t too hot when I first got into it…… only to find that the electric window on my passenger side failed to operate. My driver’s side window was able to be raised to the closed position but the other side window was not. ‘No big deal’ I thought as I headed off to my clients address. I took the toll road to avoid as much of the peak hour traffic as I could and when I was cruising on the highway I realise just how important it was to get that passenger side window up. In the slightly lowered position it was in, it caused an incredibly loud whistling sound and when I was taking phone calls as I drove my customers could not hear a word I said. As if that wasn’t bad enough I was driving right into some very heavy thunder storms and I just knew that rainwater was going to poor through that gap as I drove. Luckily I reached my destination and managed to avoid the storms. The presentation went well and I returned home still unable to make calls as I drove which drives me crazy because I like to do concurrent activities as it is a more efficient way to work, so making and taking business calls as I drive is working smarter…..
