Random Thought of The Day : In 2D digital world, an object is made of PIXEL, which is usually square-shaped. In 3D world, an object is made of POLYGON, which can be broke down into TRIS, a triangle-shaped. In both of those world, creating a circle/sphere is a costly task. It is impossible to make perfectly smooth circle/sphere. Instead, a circle/sphere usually created by using tons of pixels/tris so it looks smooth enough for human-eye. However, in our physical world (real world). A sphere is a default shape. Planets, Fruits, Atoms, Molecules is sphere-based. In my understanding (CMIIW), the sphere is a result of balancing forces (electrons, gravity, chemical bond, etc). From my observation (which is highly subjective), human tend to perceive spherically object as a better looking objects. For starters, a bouncy, circular object attracts more than a square shaped one. Which brings me to another hypothesis : What if we define a sphere-based world (e.g. a 3D world with sphere as its simplest unit), creating a perfect-smooth object will be much much more simpler and easier. Granted, there will be some downsides for implementing this (aside from a whole new math for calculation), such as : Now it is harder to create a cube/pointy objects (which unsurprisingly can also be solved by using tons of sphere). What are your thought?
