Random deep thought for the day. I have always been pretty intensely bothered by my discharge from the National Guard. I wanted a college education and this was the only way I knew to get one (thats another story.) I was on the Delayed Entry Plan while I was a senior in high school, attended drills, made rank, qualified with my weapon, and attained my military drivers license. When I was to leave for Basic, I was told I was 3lbs overweight, that I needed to wait 11 days, lose the 3lbs, and come back. I came back in 11 days and the lady measuring me said I gained 11lbs. (WTF?) I *had* to leave that day, it was the anniversary of signing on and if I didnt, I lost all rank, qualification, etc... So my choice was to go home and try to lose more weight and leave on another day back at square one with the past year meaningless or just not go at all. I chose to not go at all. Turns out I wouldve been back from AIT just in time to head to Saudi for the first Gulf War. And then I met Phil (and you know how I feel about that!
