Random thought... So often we hear the term forgiveness is not about the other person, but about letting go of the past and moving forward... Yes, forgiving those who have hurt us releases us from reliving the pain over and over and gives us the closure needed to move forward... but true forgiveness has a much greater intent than that... We are quick to discuss the need to forgive, but we become silent when we are the ones who need to be forgiven... Christ paid the ultimate sacrifice for us ALL and He so readily and faithfully forgives us... not so He can release the negative energy and just move on... but to release US from the guilt and shame of our past. He forgives us for us... not in selfish ambition or to gain recognition... True forgiveness releases the other person from reliving the pain they inflicted. It does not continue to bring up the wrongs done... it doesnt exclude the offender or make them earn our love... It goes hand in hand with love and is patient, kind does not give up or quit easily. For those who are on a journey to forgive more... I encourage you to do it selflessly... without selfish ambition or gain... do it to show the person who wronged you a glimpse of the love and grace Jesus Christ has for each of us... do it for them.
