Random thoughts! You may order popcorn and Coke ;) I am not a great fan of radio or music, days go by without me listening to anything in MY kitchen. But Monal , well she thrives on music. The minute she enters the kitchen, she switches on the radio. This morning, after breakfast, I was washing andar ke bartan. Ab yeh andar ke bartan kya hai? We are all OCDs. Even now, Monal gives all the big and steel/aluminium, etc bartan outside to the domestic help. But does the glass/ceramic, plastic and non stick kind of stuff inside only. And in Khobar, I have no help, I am toh anyway used to doing it. So for the duration that I am here, I take up that chore. Aadat rahe toh Khobar jaake mushkil nahi hogi na ;) In fact we joke, that Monal ki bai toh Saudi se aati hai :) All the bahar ke bartan also, are wiped dry with a clean cloth kept separately, by Monal or her mom in law. In spite of having a washing machine, she has an elaborate, 15-20 minute kapde bhigaoing ritual, where in she separates and soaks all the clothes in 10-12 big se leke ittu si buckets mein. Basically, she does all these aage peeche ke kaam herself. Ok, so coming back to the story, as I was doing andar ke bartan, the RJ played a song from the film Bobby, - Mujhe kuch kehna hai. Bobby was released in 73. I was 8 years old. I remember the movie so clearly. And Dimples wardrobe! Then I remembered, that at that age, I had zidd karofied and got a dress that Dimple had worn in the film, a 3/4 length, bell sleeved chiffon dress in off white. And how I used to flaunt it :P God, what a vain kid I was! So in those 3-4 minutes of listening to the song, I travelled almost 3-4 decades. I have many more, such associations, with places, clothes, occasions and activities. Do you have any particular memory attached to some film? Lets hear some nice ones :)
