Random thoughts/happenings of the week: 1) I met together with a bunch of friends recently and referenced the term YOLO during the conversation. Half the people in the group knew what I was talking about and the other half didnt. I figure even in my old age this puts me within two standard deviations on the normalized distribution of hipness. Kids still do use the word hip, right? Rad. 2) Ive gone from not being a Starbucks card owner to hitting their gold status within the period of studying for my board exams. Typically I get a black, dark roast coffee. Not only because I like the taste/high/delusions of productive grandeur, but likely because a surgical attending back in medical school threatened to fail me after I ordered a passion herbal infusion iced tea lemonade with sugar-free valencia when he offered to buy me coffee. #tbt 3) Ive been getting lots of messages from my fellow subspecialty medical fellows about how they cant seem to memorize and retain all the things that they need to know for the exam next week. I suspect from this that were all in the same boat. And while I can consider the fact there may have possibly a rip in the time-space continuum allowing all the admissions committees to screw up for a single year, I find this to be unlikely. I guess what I mean to say is - I have faith in all of you. :-)
